a Former High School Classmate Search

It’s the middle aged person that will begin to reminisce the past and when one begins to miss and appreciate school days as fun and responsibility free. Now, with an overabundance of responsibility and after hard work to achieve your dreams and goals, you realize you’ve lost touch with your closest friends that you thought were going to walk that parallel line with you. A sudden awakening reminds you of how much you’ve lost control of the essentials you once desired and miss the fun and the people that once shared their company with you. Thanks to the latest technology surrounding us today, it can be difficult to decide on a starting point. With all the resources bombarding us these days, it is hard to know where to begin. It can all be quite confusing, so where do you start?

It’s not too far-fetched to compare an alumni search with the work of a police detective, so put your detective hat on and pull out those magnifying glasses Sherlock! First you must use your current memory extensively. Begin where you left off. Reflect on past memories and use them as clues to find former classmates. The best place to start is their last known residence, typically when they still lived with their parents. Once you’ve got the places down, come up with a list of people’s names to people you both knew as this will often times prove to be extremely helpful. When you are finished with your list it is time to get down to work.

The next level consists of finding people your friend knew. Try the home your friend used to live at with his or her parents. Chances are the parents have moved, but also try the old lady next door. Every neighborhood has an old lady/man that has lived there their whole live and knows everything, give it a try! If that leads to a dead-end, then obviously you must dig deeper but where? Public records are one way to get the information you need, particularly when locating old friends. However, the biggest problem with public records is you may have to sort through hundreds or even thousands of records before you even start to get what you need and the process can take a long time. Most people will loose interest after a while due to lack of time or because of the massive undertaking.

Fortunately, there are alternatives on the Internet to help you with your alumni search that promise to do the exact same research in much less time. You may have to pay for the service but it will save you a lot of time and hassle. Many Internet investigative services often have special offers for a free tryout or the possibility for a partial return of funds if they find no results.

If you’re not ready to dig into your bank account yet, there are also many free search engines online as well. Other people who have had similar searches tout the use of search engines too. Good information can be found using this type of research such as mailing addresses and even phone numbers.

Staying calm and collected will help you eliminating most of the possibilities that come to mind for locating your classmate. When you finally reconnect with your old classmate or friend, you’ll realize it was well worth the time and effort you put into it. That’s the ultimate goal to find old classmate!

Teen Summer Camps For Youth: Make New Friends Around The World

Summer camps for teens are motivating force for their ability to enhance their mind in a relaxed and informal summer environment, usually out in the countryside. For this reason, teen summer camps are a good decision both for teens and for youth. Particularly for teenagers, the advantages are obvious.

Please remember that teen summer camps are usually very short term programs where teenagers go to do fun arts and crafts, enjoy campfire songs and sleep in cabins or tents in the wilderness. Campers take part in games, art projects, audio-video recording, songs and dance lessons.

Each a summer camp will offer diverse projects from sporting to more academic but all of them are still pleasing. In fact camps consist of all the following categories: computer camps, Sports camps, and Robotics camps. In one of the most admired camp projects offered at very many camps the teens learn media and movie production. A great thing at some camps is that each camper is allowed to use the original recordings to use in their portfolios.

Each student, after successfully finishing a summer camp program, is awarded a diploma. It gives everyone a motivation to participate and do best, and can be very beneficial as part of the teenagers resume, particularly for getting holiday and part-time jobs.

Besides the benefits of summer camps academically, they also provide for many kids, the first opportunity to spend time away from dwelling. Summer camps are therefore broadening for the children that stay over-night. Yet, some of the younger and more nervous may not prefer to join overnight camps for teens.

Summer camp managements appreciate this dilemma of them. Students are so generally provided with the option of dormitory lodging or on-campus residence.

A camp guide told me lately that their children leave the camp every summer with cultural enlightenment, a sense of maturity, heightened English skills and lifelong friends from around the world.

The fact is that the social-mix is generally wider compared to the schools these teens attend during term-time, and this is how they hang around with campers from diverse backgrounds during the camp and maybe even dissimilar nationalities as well.

It means that students study diverse coping-skills while shaping their own supportive system among their fellow campers. Their friendships are intensified during the often week-long summer camp knowledge and experience.

It is often said therefore, that the value of summer camps is something less in relation to what they actually do while at them, but it is the talents they cultivate at supporting teens to better lead life once they go away that are the most beneficial.

Therefore, let’s not forget an added last crucial factor in the summer camp experience. That is for campers going grades 9 through 12 to study new skills that prepare them for the next grade level and the next big step, which is certainly their beginning at college.

DU Summer Camps: What is Special about Camps At Denver University?

University of Denver offers various summer camps combining adventure and learning which have become integral parts of the growing up experience for children. And therefore, registration in the most admired subject matters like film and movie making generally take place months before summer actually starts.

Summer camps are very much favored in the United States. Now more and more 16 year old children are being given the chance to take part in these camps. They are so much popular which are offered not only in urban areas but also in rural settings. The duration for the camp may extend from one to six weeks long. The programs are organized in such a way that language classes are taken in the mornings. Extra-curricular activities are arranged in the afternoons, evenings and weekends.

These summer camps are perfectly suitable for band camps, youth groups, company picnics, church groups, family reunions, high school sports teams.

Many camps are becoming basic fare for today’s lively youth offering them more project-based learning. Parents wish to have creative and stimulating opportunities for their children so that they can build up confidence and values.

Children can learn diverse coping skills; build their own support system among their peers. Their friendships get stronger during their week-long summer camp. University of Denver or DU summer camps are best option to fulfill your kid’s desire and expectation.

Learn About Home Schooling Montessori Diy Tips And Montessori Home School Basic Information

The Montessori system of education is named after its creator, Dr. Maria Montessori who was a doctor, scientist, philosopher and anthropologist. She perceived that external influences do not just influence a young child’s mine, they form it. Therefore the aim of the teacher is not to control or impart knowledge to a child, but to create an environment where the child is exposed to the desired influences.

This concept is best created in the home, which explains the popularity and success of the Montessori home school system. Even in the best of schools young children in kindergarten or the first, second and third grades are exposed to many negative influences. Some children are just naturally unhappy in large groups. Others will pick up habits from badly behaved children or even develop anti social tendencies. The aim of the Montessori system is not to correct these things, but to prevent them from happening in the first place. While this can be achieved with some success in a regular school environment, it can be done best in the home in a Montessori home school.

In a Home School Montessori children are allowed to be free in their own environment. This allows a child to express its natural curiosity and as concepts a grasped, a need for order and organization develops and along with that so does self discipline. Obviously the safest place for a young child to be given this freedom is at home.

Young children have an innate desire to do things for themselves, either out of curiosity or to imitate the action of elders. The Montessori home school will provide children to participate in “adult” activities like cleaning, washing, gardening and so on. When a child is involved in these “natural” activities, things like learning what the letters C A T spell becomes equally natural. The Montessori home school allows children to learn by allowing freedom to their desire to understand. Allowing this freedom to children allows their self confidence and self esteem to also grow.

In a Montessori Home School the parent does not direct the child towards subjects to learn. Rather the parent follows the child’s natural inclinations and curiosity to support him or her in their efforts to understand what interests them. Of course, not everything will interest every child but the satisfaction children get from understanding things that interest them will lessen their resistance, in later years, to studying subject that are not appealing to them. The subconscious memory of the satisfaction that comes from understanding will overcome many of the barriers to studying “boring” subjects.

The Montessori Home School is a positive way to begin a child’s education. Even if later on parents decide to send their children to regular schools, the benefits of the Montessori home school will stay with the child for life. By allowing children to progress at their own pace and making understand that there are things they want to learn as well as things they are required to learn, a balanced outlook towards life is created in the minds of the children and this balance will stand them in good stead when they move out on their own.

Learn About Home School Calvert Diy Tips And Calvert Home School Basic Information

Many parents decide to embark on home schooling their children without realizing the amount of effort that will be involved. Any parent thinking of starting out on this course should do a great deal of research to understand what they are getting into and be sure of their abilities to handle it. There is a vast variety of home school programs that can be of great help to parents in providing them with curricula for their children’s study, test and work books, resource material and teaching guides all of which help to ensure that the parents’ educational goals for their children are met. One of the most popular secular options is the Calvert home school. It offers a “classroom in a box” curriculum that is suited for most children, challenges them and is easy for the parents to use.

Home School Calvert has been in existence for about a hundred years, which attests to both the popularity and the success of the program. What stands out about the program is that it is designed to make learning interesting and fun and not just a task that has to be performed. Because of this, there is less pressure on the parents to get their children to sit down and study. One of the problems with home school is often that of discipline. In a regular school the teacher is the symbol and exerciser of authority. In the home school the parent has to be both the parent and the teacher and the exercise of discipline and authority by a person wearing two hats can become confusing for both parent and child. The Calvert home school is designed to alleviate this problem to a large extent.

Calvert Home School is designed so that a child moves seamlessly from one level (or grade) to the next with no big jumps or new grade based new syllabus to start on. Each level of learning is just one more layer placed on top of the previous one so the progress is smooth. While most home school programs allow children to learn at their own pace, the Calvert home school is especially flexible in this way and puts no pressure on either the student or the parent. At the same time it is challenging enough to keep children mentally alert and allows for progress to be measured so that parent swill know which are their children’s weak areas so they can place extra emphasis on them.

The Calvert Home Schooling works in two ways. There is the normal text book and teaching guide system that is common to all home school programs. There is also the option of using the internet based Calvert home school program where classroom type teaching is done by an online teacher. This is particularly useful for parent who have their own weak areas and subjects they are not properly equipped to teach. This option also offer parents the facility of submitting work online for an external teacher to evaluate.

Beside its high academic standards in all subject, the Calvert home school curriculum is noted for it emphasis on literature and reading where great works of literature are an integral part of the syllabus.

Learn About Home School Alpha Omega Diy Tips And Home School Alpha Omega Basic Information

Once you have made a decision to Home Schooling your children, the next thing you have to decide upon is what teaching method you plan to use. There are a huge variety of options available today, as a search of the internet will demonstrate. The best way to decide upon which home school program is the best for you is to base your decision up the reason you want to home school your children and what you want the focus of that education to be. If the reason you decided on homeschooling is the fact that regular schools have a fixed pace of teaching which cannot be modified to suit the needs of an individual child and you want the education your children get to be based on Christian values and practice, then the Alpha Omega home school program may be the right choice for you.

The Alpha Omega Home School allows children to work and progress at their own pace without time pressures from their teachers or demoralizing comments form their peers. With the Alpha Omega home school a child may understand a subject completely ( to the appropriate level) before moving on to the next. This ensure that children do not get confused or lose interest by studying a subject they do not fully understand. There are two options available for the Alpha Omega home school. The first is the normal system of text and work books, along with material for the parent to use in the teaching process. However, since many parents have neither the knowledge to teach certain subject nor the time to learn what they need to know to be able to teach their children, the Alpha Omega home school can also use specially designed CDs or DVDs to supplement the parents’ efforts. These are specially designed keeping the Alpha Omega process and values in mind. This is especially useful for parents with more than one child to teach – one child can work with the CD based instruction while the other is being taught by the parent.

Parents are however cautioned that allowing an over relaxed attitude to the pace of study can cause a child to feel that he or she can take their own time in learning and may result in children having a huge backlog study areas by the time they reach the high school stage.

For parents who wish to place a Christian emphasis on the education their children are receiving, Home Schooling Alpha Omega is a great option. There are a number of church study programs that are part of the Alpha Omega curriculum. Parents are free to choose any of these to add to the teaching program. However, if none of these are found suitable there are other church, Bible or other Christian study programs that are available separately and may be added to the Alps Omega system. The flexibility of he Alpha Omega home school system is that it allows for different modules from different sources to be added on, the only criteria being that the teaching of these should be the same as in Alpha Omega – the child studies at his or her own pace.

Learn About Home School Waldorf Diy Tips And Waldorf Home School Basic Information

With so many home schools teaching programs and options now becoming available for parents who want to Home Schooling their children at home, the problem is no longer where to find the programs you need, but rather which one to use. The Waldorf system, used in both regular schools and for home schooling is one that is becoming increasingly popular. The Waldorf Home School system in unconventional in its approach to education and while it has been proven to produce intelligent, articulate and well rounded children, its unconventional nature makes many parents hesitate about using it.

Developed by Rudolph Steiner in the early 20th century, the concept behind a Home School Waldorf is what he called “developmentally appropriate education.” That is, it the way knowledge is imparted changes as a child develops. For this reason the Waldorf Home school system is divided into three distinct approaches to learning. In the early years children learn best through movement and imitation so the Waldorf home school system provides a program of imaginative play activities, rhythm based activities and music rather than teaching of common core subjects like maths and reading. The theory is that stimulating the mind at an early age prepares it to better absorb knowledge in later years, so that the standard subjects, although begun later that in in other systems, are understood both faster and in more detail. The Waldorf home school program is based on the concept that creativity encouraged in the early years will remain throughout life.

In the middle years, from 7 to 14, more conventional subjects ate taken up, but still with the imaginative approach. History is taught not just a dry facts and dates, but as adventures that happened to real people. Writing is taught by first teaching children to copy letters and than working with them to put the letters into sequences that become words. The logical process of creating a written text is emphasized. Reading come after writing and it is the child’s own writing work that serves as the first reading exercises.

After the age of 14, children have developed a sufficient intellectual capacity for them to pursue high levels of learning and it is from this age that the Waldorf home school aims at achieving higher levels of academic performance based on the child’s highly developed intellectual and creative abilities. The Waldorf home school system believes in children’s abilities to explore subject themselves (with, of course, adult guidance). While there can be a focus on special subject such as physics, maths, history etc., other subjects are not ignored as only a well rounded individual can excel in specialized fields.

The basics of the Waldorf Home School system are:
· Learning first by doing and then theoretical understanding is introduced
· While some subjects may be given a greater focus, no subjects should be ignored as they all form part of a holistic knowledge base.
· Life values of truth, loyalty, goodness and beauty and so on are imparted not by just telling children about them, but by placing the children in an environment where they form a part of their daily lives.
· Children are discouraged from watching TV, playing video games and using computers (although computers may be allowed for older children) as they do not encourage the child to think and therefore inhibits his or her intellectual growth.

The Best Information On Home School And Tips For Home School Christian Projects

While many people think that home schooling is a new phenomenon, it has been around since the founding of this country. The only form of education the first settlers could give their children was home education and the only educational material available was often the Bible. The Bible was used not just a religious text but as a tool for teaching reading and writing. Along with this children leaned the practical necessities and values of life from their families and the acquired wisdom of their communities. Thus came into being the Christian home school.

It was only in 1852 that Massachusetts first mandated compulsory schooling for all children. While the law was good in theory, in practice many children from outlying areas were to far from schools to be able to attend schools and education in the house continued. Things slowly changed and by 1918 every state had its own laws on the compulsory education of children. With the spread of schools, formal education became a reality and by the middle of the 20th century, education provided by the school system was accepted as the norm. By the 1960s however, parents began to have doubts about the standard of formal school education, the values it taught and the harmful influences their children were being exposed to. Looking for an alternative, people started educating their children at home and today home schooling is legal in all 50 states and an estimated 2 million children are being homeschooled today. Among the various options for home schooling available today is the Christian home school.

There are no hard and fast rules in regard to what constitutes a Home Schooling Christian. Some families create the formal school environment at home with a room reserved as a class room, fixed study times, recesses and even home work for the children to do on their own. Others integrate schooling into their Christian life style and place less emphasis on a formal education environment and more on the teaching of life skills and values through example and the active participation of their children.

A search of the internet will reveal a variety of Home School Christian programs that parents can adopt. All these are designed around the idea that an important part of education is providing children with a strong foundation of Christian values, ethics and morals. But it is not necessary to use these programs in a Christian home school. Many parents use non religion based home school programs and add their own religious teaching to these. That’s the advantage of home schooling – the curriculum can be adjusted (within the applicable state laws) to provide the kind of education that parents want their children to have.

The basis of a Christian home school is that Christian values are passed on to the children, either in a formal structure manner of a specific program or in a way and by using methods that parents feel are more suitable for their families.

There is no right or wrong way to create a Christian Home Schooling. As long as part of the education encompasses teaching the children the Christian values that the parents believe in, the home school becomes a Christian home school.

Learn About Home School Seaton Diy Tips And Seaton Home School Basic Information

Among the Catholic Home Schooling programs, the SHome Schooling Seaton stand out as being one of the most popular. It is also one of the most controversial, being steeped in church dogma. While it is for parents to sort out this contentious issue and decide whether the Seton home school is right for them, it is acknowledged that this program is effective in promoting Catholic values not just among the children who study within this system, but in the family as a whole.

Seaton Home School is a concept promoted by Dr. Anne Carroll. She founded a regular middle school that became popular both for its religious teaching and the academic results it produced. As its fame grew, so did the demand for admissions, which was beyond the school’s capacity. Although branches were set up, the demand could still not be met. Also, as the schools were quite expensive, there was a demand for education that was more affordable but which still imparted the same values and offered the same high standards. The outcome was the Seaton home school program, which Dr. Carroll promoted in 1980 and which has steadily grown in popularity.

The Seaton home school philosophy is that the parents are not just the primary care givers but also the primary educators of their children. The curriculum is based on the thoughts of the Magisterium or the official teaching authority of the Catholic Church. The idea is to provide the children and their families with a form of education based exclusively on the Catholic dogma and it either excludes or militates against that which is not acceptable to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Within these parameters, the standards are quite high and match and often exceed the standards of regular schools, both Catholic and non denominational. It has been found to be extremely effective in its college preparatory syllabus. The curriculum requires a great deal of parent participation as the religious aspect of the teachings, which begins from a very young age, requires that parents are involved, not just as mentors and guides but as living examples of these values propagated. Seton home school believes that without this the fundamental concept of home and family values cannot be successfully inculcated in the children’s minds.

An example of this is the reading texts that are part of the syllabus. The family is portrayed and a large one, based on the traditional concepts with both a mother and father present, frequently visiting grandparents and joy at the arrival of a new child, irrespective of the size and financial means of the family. Single parent families (other than in the case of widows and widowers) are rarely if ever mentioned and when they are, are treated as aberrations.

Family life as portrayed in the syllabus revolves around prayer and church attendance and contains many references to Jesus and the Saints.

While the fundamentalist approach to the Catholic religion has caused controversy, even among some Catholic families who feel that it is out of step with modern times, the parents who do use the Seton home school programs are happy with the values it promotes and the academic results it achieves.

Home School Costs Tips And Tricks And Also Home Schooling Information

Parents opt for Home Schooling because they believe that this will offer their children a better education than that which they would receive in a regular school. It is most unlikely that parents would opt for home schooling as a means of saving money, although the presumption that it will be cheaper than a regular school is something that enters the minds of most parents. Unfortunately, this is a wrong assumption. If there is a savings on the cost of education a child by opting for home schooling, it will be minor.

Giving your child the best education at home means high home schooling costs. Top quality education needs top quality equipment – up to date text books and course material, a library, computers and accessories, lighting, special furniture etc. Remember you are buying at retail what a school buy much cheaper in bulk.

One factor often over looked is not the additional direct expense but the loss of income that should be added to home schooling costs. One parent, usually the mother, will stay at home to teach the children. One the assumption that she has a level of education that makes her competent to teach the children, she could have been working and bringing money home. As an example look at a parent who has a college degree but stays at home to teach. What could the earnings from a job have been? A good amount.

Also there will be areas which the parents can’t cover, like perhaps physics or chemistry. Getting a tutor for these subjects can be very expensive.

However, this does not mean that Home Schooling Costs need be unreasonable. The size of the family is an important consideration. If material can be reused for younger children, the costs drop substantially. Home school support groups often circulate and reuse material. Online discount home school suppliers are another cost effective option, as are buying used books, if you are sure of what you are getting.

Membership to public libraries, and taking children to reduced price shows (home schoolers can easily go for weekday matinees) at theatres, operas and ballets are another money saving option.

Money that would have been spent on tutors, as mentioned above, can sometimes be saved by a barter system. For instance, the mother of a 9 year old may teach anther child English along with hers. In return the other child’s parent will teach both the children maths.

While home schooling is not about saving money, Home School Costs should be taken into account before a decision to go ahead is taken. And remember , the costs are only in material terms. When you are able to decide what your child should be taught, when he or she should learn it, how they will learn and are able to focus the home school experience on building a better life for your child than he or she could have received from a regular school education, you are profiting in ways that cannot be measured in money terms.
